When the Dust Settles: Top rated faith-based drama “The Gift of Grace” inspires both married couples and singles with a powerful message of grace, forgiveness, and second chances

Star actress Alex Jay (as April Love) and co-star actor Zachary Scott Clark (as Joaquin Brooks) in film “The Gift of Grace.”

This week started out with love in the air on Valentine’s Day but as the dust settled, for many relationships, it clouded all things love and romance. The spark of hope ignited by the roses, chocolate-coated strawberries, and love letters that only seem to come once a year extinguished almost immediately, leaving couples to face the disheartening realities with themselves and each other, time and time again. With reasons for staying around ranging from children, finances, and everything in between one thing is clear — something must be done before it’s all undone.

According to statistics at cdc.gov, it is estimated that 2.7 out of every 1,000 marriages end in divorce. It’s a number that screen writer and producers Trey and Kyria Williams of KMW Productions and Director Derrick Mullen of Mullen Group Productions are working to decrease through faith-based films that capture real life issues and drama. Their films, however, always end with expressions of God’s grace — like in their latest film project branded with an underlying message of grace, forgiveness and second chances.

The trio’s latest film “The Gift of Grace” debuted on Amazon Prime in December of 2021 and currently has a global rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. With an undeniable impact on marriages and singles, critics from the courtroom of public opinion weighed in on the films storyline (plot), cinematography, and the performance of actors and actresses with raving reviews.

Coming from the Greek word charis, grace is defined as a generous, free, and totally unexpected and undeserved gift from God to his people. Taking the form of divine favor, love and clemency it means partaking in the divine life of God.

One review of the relatable, non-judgmental film read, “Your darkest secrets don’t surprise God and they don’t keep him from loving you … this film touched on so many topics … difficult decisions, apologizing, giving grace, cheating, forgiveness, love — the lessons that God teaches us if we are willing to learn.” Another review reads, “I love that it showed that it is okay for men to comfort one another and that it is healthy for men to be vulnerable too.”

Star actor Benjamin Jones ( as William Ward) and co-Star Alex Jay (as April Love) in film “The Gift of Grace.”

The film follows successful marketing executive William Ward, played by emerging actor Benjamin Jones and his wife Cynthia Ward, played by actress BlaQue Pearl, whose marriage approaches the end of the road when a work romance with April Love, played by Alex Jay, is discovered. Emotional affairs, unresolved childhood trauma, and unbalanced priorities come face to face with grace, forgiveness, and second chances in this truthful, impactful, and eye-opening film.

“I want people to truly understand and accept God’s grace. Many of us are in a place in our lives where we’ve made poor choices and really bad decisions in our past. We sometimes hold on to those things and we allow people to keep us in that place versus completely being free and understanding that no matter what you’ve done you’re still accepted, you’re still loved, and you still have purpose. I want people to know that God’s grace is real. He loves us and he does not want us to remain in a place of bondage,” says producer and screenwriter Kyria Williams.

Film Director Derrick Mullens says, “I want people to see the drama, the authenticity, and that it’s relatable.”

The Gift of Grace is available on Amazon Prime and Tubi.
